a+LiNK Architecture was retained by the City of London to perform a building condition assessment on the Red Antiquities building. Pathways Skills Development, in venture with Heritage London, then retained a+LiNK to provide architectural services to restore the building to its original form. The commercial building retains the original bedroom layout on the upper floor while the original crawl space was expanded to a full basement increasing the rentable area. The design is representative of the era in which it was built by retaining its original heritage materials. The adaptive reuse of the restored building incorporates professional offices and community meeting spaces.
The reinvigorated Red Antiquities building represents a tangible economic benefit to the local SoHo community by contributing to increased property values and renewing interest in the SoHo economic sector.
