a+LiNK Architecture was retained by Baribeau Construction to design a Farmers Market in Aylmer, Ontario, to transform an old warehouse into a vibrant community space. The new front canopy gives a welcoming presence on the street with the new ‘front door’. On market days, there is a place for vendors to display their wares. This is an adaptive reuse of an 1,800 SF drying hall to become a vibrant community space and a year-round market for local vendors.
The project scope included creating serviced and unserviced tenant spaces, washrooms and storage. The architectural challenge was the conversion of a former dried tobacco storage space to be a usable, conditioned space including the upgrade of the building envelope and the retention of the existing wooden roof trusses.
