The Pinafore Park Dance Pavilion, also known as the West Pavilion, is located in the city of St. Thomas, and was constructed in 1917 by the St. Thomas Street Railway. It is a public space that provides an ideal setting for family events and outdoor activities, as well as sport and music events.
In 2015, a+LiNK Architecture was retained by the City of St. Thomas to design and implement a phased restoration plan of the Dance Pavilion to re-establish the pavilion as a community and civic events venue. Phase I of the restoration addressed structural deficiencies and exterior site work such as installation of new concrete curbs, replacement of existing gutters and columns, repair of concrete piers, and new exterior wood trim and siding.
In 2017, a+LiNK implemented Phase II for the exterior restoration of the pavilion which addressed rain water control and the building envelope including a historical paint analysis and new exterior paint application.
Phase III is planned to include the interior restoration of the ground floor and second floor.
