The City of St. Thomas retained a+LiNK Architecture to design a new animal services centre, located within the Doug Tarry Complex park area in the south end of the city. The new 5,600 SF centre provides a strong connection to the adjacent green space with a new off-leash dog park and walking paths routed through the site.
The program includes staff and administration spaces with a secure entry vestibule for improved staff safety, intake treatment rooms, separated cat and dog housing, a cat cafe for social visits, a secure sally port, exterior runs with yard and an animal washing station. The design is also future-proofing for the implementation of solar panels, to be installed per the City’s sustainability mandate.
