In 2019, a+LiNK Architecture was retained by the City of Kitchener to provide architectural design and heritage consulting services for the adaptive reuse of the relocated Heritage House within RBJ Schlegel Park in Kitchener. In collaboration with Stantec as Landscape Architect and Tacoma Engineers as Structural Engineer, a+LiNK worked collaboratively with the City to design for the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of the heritage building to serve as a parks building to offer washrooms, change rooms and maintenance storage space.
The design involves 1,500 SF of interior renovation space to provide amenities for the public for the adjacent splash pad and various sport courts. The design is complimentary of the heritage building while providing modern facilities for park users, including gender-neutral washrooms, change rooms and barrier-free accessibilty throughout. The building remains under construction and is scheduled for completion in summer of 2023.
